Sigurdur Rögnvaldsson is an Icelandic guitarist based in Helsinki, Finland. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Improvisation from the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, Sweden. He holds a Master's Degree in Jazz from the Royal Collage of Music, Stockholm.
In his musical endeavours, Rögnvaldsson has managed to form his own bands that create and perform his own compositions. His musical style remains hard to be categorised: It is comprised of modern sounds with jazz and rock influences, with a heavy reliance on improvisation. His sound is often aggressive, slightly overdriven yet thrives for the pure sound of the electric guitar.
His own quartet, Sigurdur Rögnvaldsson’s Dark Forest, has released two albums and is planing for its third release in the autumn of 2023. He is also a member of the international trio Equally Stupid together with Pauli Lyytinen (FIN) and David Meier (CH) where he plays exclusively baritone guitar and the BASS VI.

Sigudur is also one of the founding members of Sähkökitarakvartetti, an electric guitar quartet that started out in 2017. At this time over 20 compositions have been written specifically for the quartet.

He also plays with various artists in Finland such as Talambo, Anni Elif, Aili Järvelä, Raoul Björkenheim, Tatu Rönkkö and Pauli Lyytinen.
