Sigurdur Rögnvaldsson is an Icelandic guitarist based in Helsinki, Finland. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Improvisation from the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, Sweden. He holds a Master's Degree in Jazz from the Royal Collage of Music, Stockholm.
In his musical endeavours abroad, Rögnvaldsson has managed to form his own bands that create and perform their own music. His musical style remains hard to be categorised: It is comprised of modern sounds with jazz and rock influences, with a heavy reliance on improvisation. His sound is often aggressive, slightly overdriven yet thrives for the pure sound of the electric guitar, achieved by thick strings, high action and tube amplifiers. His own quartet, Sigurdur Rögnvaldsson’s Dark Forest, has released two albums and is planing for the third in the autumn of 2021. He is also a member of the powerful trio Equally Stupid where he plays baritone guitar and bass VI as well as the modern electric guitar quartet Sähkökitarakvartetti.

He also plays with various artists in Finland such as Anni Elif, Aili Järvelä, Raoul Björkenheim, Tatu Rönkkö and Pauli Lyytinen.
